About International Golf Tournaments (IGTGolf)

IGTGolf was organized to promote the thrill and excitement of competitive golf throughout South Africa in accordance with the R&A and USGA rules of golf.

The IGTGolf Tour mission is to enable everyone and anyone who chooses to compete to play just like the guys at Sunday afternoon tour finals -- large cheques and all.

The IGTGolf Tour satisfies a need for the average golfer (which represents 95% of the total golf population) to compete in professional-like conditions with the excitement of prize money.

Single day 18 hole, two day 36 hole and three day 54 hole Tour Championship tournaments, on top courses, are open to both men and women golfers in the 0 to 24 handicap range. Golf in this format, with a strictly controlled handicap system producing fair competition, will give every golfer the unique experience of “playing on tour”.

IGTGOLF is a member tour, where members can play as a non-amateur for cash awards or as an amateur for prizes and gift certificates thus maintaining their amateur status.

IGTGOLF is run by a group of enthusiastic golfers dedicated to the concept of providing fair, competitive golf tournaments for the average golfer.

Handicapping

Statistics shows that a golfer will not typically score his handicap more than once out of every five rounds of golf. Your handicap is thus based on your potential, not your average score. The IGTGolf Tour handicap calculation is based on these statistics.

The IGTGolf Tour utilizes customized handicap system software with tournament proven adjustment factors to prevent sandbagging. The IGTGolf Tour adjusts handicaps during all tournaments and members will play from their IGTGolf Tour handicaps during Tournaments. This is based on a Probability Table.

Handicaps get adjusted after nine holes and 18 holes depending on your tour playing status.

The IGTGolf Tour handicap system will only use scores attained at IGTGolf Tour Tournaments to calculate a player’s handicap.

The Tournament Board reserves the right to change a player's handicap or disqualify him/her or the team from participation, if deemed necessary. All decisions of the Tournament Committee are final. No Correspondence will be entered into between players and The IGTGolf Tour Committee.

Tournament Formats

All tournaments will be scheduled for a minimum of 18 holes with the exception of inclement weather. Tournaments will be governed by both the R&A, USGA and existing local rules.
