About 2009 Event

The Golf Survivor grand final will be 18 non amateur/amateur golfers playing 18 signature holes on 17 different courses off their Handicaps. The tournament features non amateur/amateur golfers competing in the prestigious Golf Survivor signature 18 hole final tournament from (Date to be announced). The ultimate winner will win 1 Million Rand. The Golf Survivor Final Tournament will be played over 6 weeks and will be shown on the Golf Survivor Reality TV Show.

The prize-money in this televised event will be R1,000,000 to the winner,  R100,000 for 2nd place, R50,000 for 3rd place and R20,000 for 4th place.

Regional Finals

Regional Playoff rounds will be played across South Africa during the Regional Playoff Period (Date to be announced) at the following regions; Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Southern Cape and Western Cape.

Each Region will have 120 regional finalists to play for 3 (three) spots in the 2010 Golf Survivor. The 120 finalist per region will be selected via a random draw from their sweepstakes entries received online or via sms.

A total of 18 non amateur/amateur golfers -- 3 from each region -- will qualify from regional finals.

Golf Survivor Championship Event

18-Hole Individual Stableford

From (Date to be announced), the 18 regional winners will play 18 holes over 6 weeks on the Golf Survivor Signature Golf Course. The finalist will play 3 holes per day per week for 6 weeks.

  • Week 1 Tuesday – Western Cape. 18 Players - Three players to be eliminated after 3 holes. One player to be voted back by the public.
  • Week 2 Tuesday – Eastern Cape. 16 Players - Three players to be eliminated after next 3 holes. One player to be voted back by the public.
  • Week 3 Tuesday – Southern Cape. 14 Players - Four players to be eliminated after next 3 holes. One player to be voted back by the public.
  • Week 4 Tuesday – KwaZulu-Natal. 11 Players - Four players to be eliminated after next 3 holes. One player to be voted back by the public.
  • Week 5 Tuesday – Gauteng. 8 Players - Five players to be eliminated after next 3 holes. One player to be voted back by the public.
  • Week 6 Tuesday – Sun City. 4 Players – one player to be eliminated after 1st hole and one player to be eliminated after 2nd hole. Two players will be left to play for 1 Million Rand on the final hole. The winner will be the player with the most stableford points on the Golf Survivor Signature Course.

Player Eligibility

Player Eligibility: This Tournament Series is open to South African male residents, 18 years of age or older. All entrants must be non amateur/amateur golfers who have acquired an official golf handicap by (Date to be announced). Current professional golfers (or players that have ever been a professional golfer), employees of IGTGolf, other sponsors and member companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising agencies and members of their immediate families are not eligible to participate.  For purposes of these rules, “immediate family” is defined as parents, spouses, siblings and children, regardless of whether they reside in the same household. Winners advancing to the final understand that accepting the prize money will impact their amateur status according to the Rules of Golf.  Tournament officials have the right to adjust handicaps anytime at their sole discretion according to the Golf Survivor Handicap Policy. The maximum handicap is 18.

How to enter

Take your shot at playing like the professionals! The 2010 Golf Survivor features 18 non amateur/amateurs competing in the prestigious 18 hole Finals Tournament from (Date to be announced). The prize-money in this televised event will be R1,000,000 to the winner,  R100,000 for 2nd place, R50,000 for 3rd place and R20,000 for 4th place.

For your chance to win one of 120 guaranteed player slots per region in the 18 hole Regional Finals, enter the Sweepstakes Drawing from (Date to be announced).

2.     Enter Online. Visit www.igtgolf.org and click on Golf Survivor. Enter your details and submit your sweepstake entry. This option is only available for Credit and Debit cards online payment. This cost per entry is R20.00

You can enter as many times as you like and also enter in one or all regions.

The random drawing will be held on the (Date to be announced), from among all eligible entrants. The draw will be a random draw on the IGTGolf website and will select 5 players every hour per region until 120 players have been drawn. The draw will be monitored by (To be announced).

The Golf Survivor Final Golf Package includes accommodation, travel, meals and golf. Personal expenses are for own account.

Handicap Policy

To compete, all players must have an established Handicap at a recognized golf facility, golf association, golf club or organization that can validate your handicap. A temporary trend or cyber handicap is not valid. Sponsor reserves the right to accept or decline any potential player at its sole discretion. Regional Qualifier entrants may be required to submit verification forms to site golf professional with a copy of their current handicap cards and a printout of all scores used to calculate their handicaps. Tournament Committee will verify handicaps for all 120 participants per region.

The Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust player handicaps at anytime during the competition. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein and to reject the entry of any applicant, or disqualify any player at any time, for any reason. Any decision by the Committee, in any matter, shall be final. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to adjust player handicaps at anytime during the competition.

Golf Survivor has Exceptional Tournament Score (ETS) adjustments between all rounds, avoiding any sandbagging. Adjusted scores balance the game and evens out scores closer to par, creating a fair contest under equal conditions.

Exceptional Tournament Score Policy:

  • Exceptional Tournament Score (ETS): An Exceptional Tournament Score (ETS) is any score posted of nett three under par or lower.
  • Complete Score History: A complete score history is a player's current score history, consisting of the player's ten (10) most recent rounds posted.

2010 HANDICAP MONITORING POLICY: 18 Holes Regional Finals

During the tournament, all players will be subjected to handicap adjustments.

Anyone that shoots unusually low scores after nine holes may have their handicap adjusted for the remaining 9 holes. A reasonable and fair threshold for adjustments will be established. If deemed necessary, any player with an inaccurate handicap will be disqualified.

If a player is adjusted and continues to shoot exceptional scores, their handicap and its accuracy will be thoroughly researched.

Any participant found, at any time, to be using a fraudulent handicap will be expelled from the tournament and all fees will be forfeited. The Tournament Committee reserves the right to change a player's handicap index or disqualify from participation, if deemed necessary. All decisions of the Tournament Committee are final.
