Non Amateur
A non amateur golfer is not a professional golfer, and is defined in terms of The IGTGolf Tour Handbook, as a regular player who may accept cash, prizes and sponsorships for their winnings. An amateur golfer may only accept gift certificates and non-cash prizes limited to R4500 in vouchers per event.
By becoming a non-amateur golfer, a player can participate for money, is a member of a golf club, handicapped by golf club, play in local golf club competitions, play in corporate tournaments, and be sponsored. A non-amateur golfer may however not play in amateur sanctioned tournaments or golf union sanctioned tournaments, play league golf or represent his country in amateur golf tournaments. Due to the fact that only a few golfers can play as professional golfers, a huge gap remains for the majority of golfers, hence the non-amateur proposal.
